Tchiaro is a product of a grey mom and a black dad, who has white points on his head. The result is what we now know to expect, though this information was not common knowledge when she was conceived. She is a blue-eyed white. Her fiber is exceptional as seems to be the case with this phenotype. Tchiaro got off to a slow start in our breeding program. First of all we wanted to be sure we were pairing her with a perfect male so as to not reproduce the blue eyes. Then she was not really receptive for a couple of years. Our thoughts are that her hearing may not be perfect and she was missing the “orgle!” Just a theory, however. Then our friend, Linda, suggested essential oil of lavendar to help her relax around the boys. Well, let me tell you, that did the trick immediately. A little perfume behind the ears made her feel most feminine. The rest is history. Her first cria is blacker than black with not a speck of blue in his eyes. Tchiaro is a great mom. If there is a hearing problem (which we have never been able to absolutely prove) she does not exhibit it when it comes to keeping track of her cria. Tchiaro will be bred to one of our premier herdsires for a 2010 cria.
