In 2007 there were approximately 274 Alpaca Owners and Breeders in the State of California according to the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA). California Alpaca Farms and Alpaca Ranches are represented by the California Alpaca Breeders Association (Calpaca) and the Alpaca Breeders Association of Southern California (SoCalPaca). California is host to the California Classic Alpaca Show which occurs in April and the AlpacaFest West which occurs in November.
