Mardi is the first female we purchased. She has produced gorgeous suri offspring. Her 2003 cria is an exquisite dark brown, white and rose gray female who sold within weeks of her birth and is now a foundation emale for Luna Rosa Suris. We love Mardi's colorful fiber and the potential we see in her for future multi colored cria with quality she consistently produces. Mardi is a 4th generation suri alpaca with a strong pedigree that includes Peruvian Fuego and Lumino of Bolivia. She is bred to GLR Saltante a.k.a. Joey, a Peruvian Condor son who is producing cria with phenomenal fiber. With the gray in Joey's background and the gray that Mardi exhibits we are keeping our fingers crossed for a colored cria come June 2009. Mardi has a great milk supply and wonderful maternal instincts. She never misses a breeding and delivers completely unassisted.
We are so excited here at Brandilyn to have been able to add Joey to our herdsire row! I get more impressed with him with each cria of his I see. He passes on his outstanding coverage, lock structure, luster and density to his offspring. He is a Peruvian Condor son so he has all that gray in his background. Through his dam, Joey has 1st class genetics of Pardner and Absolute. Joey has two spots of dark fawn, one on his right hip and the other in his tail. With the right breeding we are sure Joey will produce color. It will be fun doing our best to figure out what that right breeding will be! Joey has heavy bone conformation with a perfect bite. In the coming years we are positive Joey will be a great asset to our breeding program.
