Alpaca Oaks decides to raise children instead of Alpacas

This is the first of an ongoing series discussing AlpacaTrack members and their farms and ranches.  Unfortunately, this will probably be the last for this particular Alpaca ranch.

It was over a year ago when Chris and Christi Kemsley pulled up to our Heart of Texas Alpacas gate and gave us a call.  They were Suri Alpaca Owners from California looking for property in Texas. They ended up moving to a 10 acre "Mini Ranch" a few miles down the road and named it Alpaca Oaks.  They quickly converted their acreage to one of the cutest Alpaca Ranches in Texas!

For the first year, they were very active in the Alpaca community going to Alpaca shows and enjoying the Alpaca Lifestyle! Their herd of Suris grew, but at the same time their family of children grew.

We've become great friends, and share our thoughts and "things".  As they were starting out, they borrowed our Tractor on a regular basis.  Ours is now in the shop, so they allowed us to borrow theirs.  Since they don't have a trailer to pull their tractor, we will bring it into the shop for servicing.  We've regularly worked together during herd health days.  It's been great to have an Alpaca Ranch right down the road from us.  This is truly an industry of "Friendly Competitors".

We received an email from them this weekend.  They have decided that after four years in the industry, they had to make a tough choice.  Spend more time with their growing "Human family" or spend more time with their growing "Alpaca family". To make a long story short, the family took precedence and they are "Getting out of the Alpaca business".

So, even though we may be loosing an AlpacaTrack client and we will be loosing a great supporter of the Alpaca industry as friends I would like to help them out.  They are selling their entire herd of about 15 suris and 3 guard Llamas.  I'd love to buy them myself at these prices, but I am concentrating on breeding Huacayas.

If you are looking for some great prices on some beautiful Suris, contact Chris and Christi.  Their contact information can be found on their AlpacaTrack website, along with their sale prices.
